COURSE OVERVIEW

PRINCE2 Foundation ®, firmly established as the world’s most-practiced method for project management, is globally recognised for delivering successful projects.

The real success of PRINCE2® lies in its compilation of proven best practices in project management taken from academics, business professionals, and consultants across the years. Since its creation, at least two million PRINCE2® exams have been sat in over 150 countries worldwide. This is a clear testament to the value of PRINCE2® to individuals all over the world.

PRINCE2® is practical and accessible and plays a vital role in ensuring that projects of any kind will lead to beneficial outcomes.

This workshop will provide participants with a solid understanding of the PRINCE2® method covering the principles, themes, and processes. In addition, our goal is for every participant to attain PRINCE2® certification.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

The target audience for this workshop is: Project Managers and aspiring Project Managers.

Other key staff involved in the design, development and delivery of projects including Project Board members (e.g. sponsors) Team Managers Project Assurance, Project Support (e.g. Project and Programme Office personnel) and Operational line managers/staff.

Participants should be Project Managers or Team Leaders or have had involvement in a project environment. They should have an understanding of project terminology or have completed a project management fundamentals course.

The objectives of the Foundation workshop are to understand:

  • Key concepts relating to projects and PRINCE2®
  • How the PRINCE2® principles underpin the PRINCE2® method
  • The PRINCE2® themes and how they are applied throughout the project
  • Prepare for and sit the Foundation examination

The workshops explore the following content with the Foundation level focusing on the theory:

  • Key concepts of projects and PRINCE2®
    Definition of a project.
  • What makes a project a PRINCE2® project.
  • Features and benefits of PRINCE2®.
  • The customer/supplier context

PRINCE2® Principles
Understanding and analysis of the PRINCE2® Principles. Explain which aspects of a project can be tailored, who is responsible and how tailoring decisions are made.

PRINCE2® Themes
Understand the PRINCE2® Themes and how they are applied throughout the project, including Business Case, Organization, Quality, Plans, Risk, Change and Progress.

PRINCE2® Processes
Understand the PRINCE2® Processes and how they are carried out throughout the project. Explain the purpose, objectives and context of the PRINCE2® processes. Apply and tailor relevant aspects of PRINCE2® in context.

Materials

A comprehensive participant handbook is provided for the Foundation workshop, along with the AXELOS publication Managing Successful Projects with PRINCE2® (2017).

The examination is a 60 minute, 60 question, closed book multiple choice paper. The pass mark is 33 out of 60 (55%). The examination assesses whether a candidate can demonstrate sufficient recall and understanding of PRINCE2®.

Foundation Certification Guarantee

PM-Partners group offer a Foundation Certification Guarantee to all participants that:

  • Attend the complete course and take the exam at the end of the course
  • Listen attentively, ask questions and are actively involved
  • Have strong verbal and written English communication skills
  • Revise and review the materials before the exam

 

If by following the above you do not pass the Foundation Exam, we will put you through again at no charge.

Professional Development Units

Participants who have been awarded the Project Management Professional Certification (PMP)® by the Project Management Institute are eligible to earn 21 PDUs for their participation in foundation course (21 Technical); 14 PDUs for their participation in the practitioner course (14 Technical). Participants holding any of the Project Management accreditations (CPPP/CPPM/CPPD) are eligible to earn 15 CPDs per certification attained.

The 3-day Foundation workshop is NOT a project management fundamentals workshop and therefore does not cover the principles of project management.

To ensure your outcomes are achieved some pre-course preparation is required.

This will be sent out 2 weeks in advance of the workshop (or at time of booking if booking less than 2 weeks prior to workshop commencement). Expected pre-course Foundation preparation time: 1-2 hours.
